Disley Cricket Club are delighted to announce Kiwi batsman Luke Scully as overseas player for the 2018 season. Hailing from Wellington on the southern tip of New Zealand’s North Island, the 24 year old has represented the historic Karori Cricket Club since 2010 where he has held his own against players with first class and international experience.
Cricket has taken a back seat for Luke in recent years as he has been prioritising his education but he has still made a strong impact with limited appearances. In 2016/17 he returned 215 runs from just 4 innings for Karori, showcasing his versatility by carrying his bat through a 50-over one-day innings for an unbeaten 121* and also thrashing a quickfire 61 in a Twenty20 outing.
Luke has also represented Burnside University during his studies and was 1stXI captain of Wellington College in his youth. In 2010 he was selected to represent Wellington at the national schools championship, registering the competitions only century as he knocked up an even 100.
With his studies now behind him Luke has utilised his British passport and master’s degree to land an engineering job in Manchester and is raring to get back into his cricket.
All at Disley Cricket Club are delighted he has agreed to play for the Rams in 2018 and we look forward to welcoming him to the club in April.
