Disley Cricket Club are delighted to announce the capture of Australian Josh Henry as overseas for the 2017 season. The 24 year-old batsman is a product of Victoria Premier Cricket where he represented Kingston Hawthorn and Melbourne University respectively from 2008 to 2012, striking a First Grade fifty when just 18 years old.
He has since returned to local cricket with Ferntree Gully, becoming a staple at the top of the order for the Blues’ First Grade and taking out the club batting averages in 14/15. He has also chipped in with some valuable wickets from his part-time off-spin, whilst off the field he has proven a valuable clubman with his contributions to junior coaching.
Sadly, Josh’s 16/17 campaign has been badly curtailed by injury meaning he managed only 6 innings with a top score of 73, but he will arrive in Disley fit and raring to go. He lands in Manchester on April 5th with plenty of time to acclimatise ahead of a maiden stint abroad.
Josh’s professional experience will also come in handy as he is employed as part of the grounds team at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium which plays host to Big Bash fixtures as well as AFL and Melbourne Victory games in the A-League.
All at Disley Cricket Club look forward to welcoming him to the Rams for the summer and disleycc.co.uk will have an interview with Josh later in the week.
