Disley Cricket Club are delighted to announce the 2018 Summer Tour will be an international affair, seeing the Rams head to Helsinki, Finland.
After hosting the Zimbabwe Rising Stars at Disley Amalgamated Sports Club last summer, the taste for international cricket has lingered and this opportunity proved too good to turn down.
Founder and Chairman of Cricket Finland (ICC Associate Nation) Andy Armitage has invited Disley to form part of the warm up games for Finland’s ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
The 4 day trip to Finland will culminate in the Rams playing the Finnish national team on Wednesday 11th July on the National Ground at Kerava.
The tour will include a warm up game for Disley against a local club side the day earlier, prepping the Cheshire Cricket League side for their tilt at the national team. Sauna and discussions on Finland’s egalitarian heritage will also be available.
The trip to Finland, while not a traditional cricketing destination, represents a massive coup for the club – the strength of the ICC Associate programme is not to be under-estimated as Finland will be deadly serious in their preparations for World Cup Qualification.
We hope to take a strong playing squad of current players and DCC alumni, and a touring party of fans are encouraged to join this historic event in the club’s history as we journey to the land of a thousand lakes.
If you would like to be a part of this extraordinary trip to sample international cricket, the world’s most liveable city, and potentially some local vodka the flight/hotel package is available via Director of Cricket Stewart Reynolds.
The tour departs Monday 9th July, returning to Manchester Thursday 12th.
