Both senior sides climbed into the promotion places with a pair of maximum point wins in week 10 to set up the business end of the season. The highlight being the first overseas century in Disley history.

It was one-way traffic at Broomsedge as the 1stXI were inserted by Barnton under leaden skies but responded with a dominant opening stand of 181 between Josh Henry (101) and Jake Reynolds (84). The pair picked up where they left off last week and sent the ball to all corners, punishing a weakened home attack and allowing an eventual declaration at 243-7.

Having put their feet up for the first innings, the bowling attack then got to work with an equally impressive display after tea. Jamie Henderson (5-18) bowled with real pace and sent the stumps cartwheeling four times in his opening spell whilst Toby Carson (2-21) found a pair of edges to leave Barnton a shellshocked 27-6.

A well-judged catch by James Banner got Martin Blackbourn (2-22) in on the act as only Hodgekinson, who remained unbeaten on 48*, came to terms with the Rams attack. Barnton were eventually dismissed for 75, Henderson returning to collect an all-bowled 5-for whilst Simon Hare (1-10) won his individual battle with tailender Appleton.

At the DASC the 2ndXI rose to top spot in Division B East as their unbeaten run continued despite an early wobble with the bat. Dickman and Abbas both fell without scoring but the skipper dropped anchor for a boundaryless 30 to allow Simon Lomas (35) and Madusha Wettasinghe (78) to play their natural games.

The pair cleared the ropes seven times between them to help the Rams post 171 and allow the bowlers to get into their work after tea. Wickets for seamers Wragg and Rooney were added to by the batting heroes to expose the tail to Adam Burgess who is again set to post a challenge on the 2ndXI bowling averages.

His 5-15 ripped through the lower order and sent the 1stXI to the top of Division B East thanks to favourable results elsewhere. Availability and some good fortune with the weather will hopefully allow the side to sustain a title challenge through into September.
