With the 1stXI abandoned at the DASC the only action was at Ashley where the 2ndXI fell to a disappointing defeat to end their slim title chances.
The Rams managed to limit the scoring after the hosts elected to take first use. New ball duties fell to the Potter brothers who went on to share five wickets, senior Dave returning 4-59. 160-7 by the close looked achievable but the Disley batting turned in a disappointing effort after the interval.
Decent knocks from Stew Reynolds (42), Abbas Nizam-ud-din (21) and Henry Clark (23) had set up a potential maximum point chase. However, with the field spread, a series of ambitious shots against the slow bowling of Witt and Alves was the Disley undoing.
Six single figure scores saw the Rams slump to 132 all-out when a more patient effort would have returned maximum points. Disley now realistically stand no chance of catching leaders Chelford but can reflect on a strong showing in the new Division B East.
